Earthquake Near Delhi Triggers Panic; Epicentre in Faridabad

A minor earthquake of 2.4 magnitude struck Faridabad, causing no damage but creating panic among residents.

Faridabad, Haryana, experienced mild tremors on July 25, 2024 at 10:54 am and again at 11.43 am, sparking a wave of panic among the locals. The earthquake, recorded at a depth of 5 kilometers with a magnitude of 2.4 on the Richter scale, fortunately, did not result in any casualties or property damage.

The National Center for Seismology reported that the earthquake's epicenter was located at 28.44° N latitude and 77.38° E longitude. Given its low intensity, the tremors were not strongly felt, and no significant effects were observed. The quake's energy dissipated quickly due to its shallow depth.

Despite the absence of damage, the incident has created an atmosphere of fear among the citizens, reminding them of the region's vulnerability to seismic activity.
