Election Commission Announces Assembly Election Dates in 5 States

The announcement included details of the electoral process dates, filing of nominations, polling days, and result declaration. Elections start on November 7, 2023, and the counting of votes will be done on December 3, 2023.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for assembly polls in five states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Mizoram, and Rajasthan today on October 9, 2023. The announcement included details of the electoral process dates, filing of nominations, polling days, and result declaration.

The counting of votes will be done on December 3, 2023.

The Election Commission held a meeting on Friday, October 6, 2023, to create strategies for the smooth conduct of the polls. EC police, general, and expenditure observers came together to develop strategies to ensure proper implementation of the Model Code of Conduct and that money does not affect equal opportunities.

Elections in Chhattisgarh

  • The election in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases, which will be on November 7 and November 17, 2023.

  • Seats - 90

Elections in Madhya Pradesh

  • In MP, the polling will be held in a single phase on November 17, 2023, which will subsequently clash with the second voting phase in Chhattisgarh.

  • Seats - 230

Elections in Rajasthan

  • The polling will be held in a single phase on November 23, 2023.

  • Seats - 200

Elections in Telangana

  • Telangana will go to polls in a single phase on November 30, 2023.

  • Seats - 119

Elections in Mizoram

  • Assembly elections will be held on November 7, 2023.

  • Seats - 40
