A Pension Payment Order (PPO), a 12-digit number granted to each pensioner covered by the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), will be assigned to an Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) subscriber when he or she retires.

How to get your PPO number?
Step 1: Go to www.epfindia.gov.in and log in.
Step 2: Select the Pensioner's portal under Online service.
Step 3: A redirect to the "Welcome to Pensioners Portal" will appear.
Click the link that says "Know your PPO number" on the right side of the page.
Step 4: Type in your PF number or bank account number. Your PPO number, Member ID, and pension type will be displayed once the required information has been submitted.
How to check your pension status:
Step 1: Go to www.epfindia.gov.in and log in.
Step 2: Select the Pensioner's portal under Online service.
Step 3: A redirect to the "Welcome to Pensioners Portal" will appear.
Step 4: Click the link that says "Know Your Pension Status" on the right side of the page.
Step 5: To check the status of your pension, select the office, office ID, and PPO number.
How to verify PPO?
"In case any correction(s) in the PPO is required, please contact your Head of Office/Pension Disbursing Agency for any necessary action in this regard," the Pensioners Portal states.
How is the 12-digit PPO number allotted?
The following system is used for the allocation of 12-digit PPO numbers, according to the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO). In every PPO, the first five digits represent the code number of the PPO Issuing Authority, followed by the next two digits that represent the year of issue, and then the following four digits that represent the PPO's sequential number, with the final digit serving as a computer check digit.
