EPFO Update: Easy Steps to Check Your Pension Status with PPO Number
The PPO code is unique for every Employee Provident Fund (EPF) subscriber or pensioner and it works as a reference number for any communication made to the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO).
There are three components in PF statement - Employee share, Employer share, and Pension Contribution or Employee Pension Scheme (EPS).
While the amount that gets withdrawn from your gross income towards the provident fund is termed employee share, the amount which the employer contributes towards your provident fund is known as employer share.
As per the EPF rule, the employee has to contribute 12% of their base income towards the provident fund. The company will also contribute the same 12% to your PF account at the same time. However, 3.67% of the 12% that employers contribute go to EPS.
To qualify for an early pension, an employee must be above 50 and have at least 10 years of service under their name. In principle, an EPFO member must be 58 years old to earn a pension, but in an emergency, he may choose to obtain one earlier.
Using their 12-digit PPO number, pensioners can check the status of their pension and file complaints. If you don't know your PPO number, follow the below steps.
