EPFO Warns PF Members Not To Share These Credentials with Anyone
Members of the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) have the option of an online EPF account transfer. Here's what EPFO warned its subscribers.
The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has millions of account holders all around the nation. A percentage of each employee's pay is deposited into their account. When the account holder retires, the whole amount deposited into the EPFO account becomes theirs.
Additionally, you can use this money if you need it to cover unexpected expenses like a medical bill, a child's college tuition, or a wedding. The money in each person's EPFO account would then be considered their lifelong capital. When using your EPFO account, there are a few things that are important to keep in mind.
As India's economy becomes more digitalized, the number of cybercrime incidences is rapidly increasing. Today's victims are preyed upon by these cybercriminals, who steal their personal data and empty their accounts. Millions of account holders have been warned by the Employees Provident Fund Organization that under such scamming circumstances, this should not happen to you.
What Did EPFO Warn?
The Employees' Provident Fund Organization tweeted about this problem, informing its millions of account holders that while OTP is never requested, subscribers' personal details, including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, UAN numbers, and bank account numbers are usually misused. Never ever respond to an unknown caller or message by providing any personal information.
Report Fraud to the Police:
People regularly report experiencing scams when changing jobs. Under the guise of updating EPFO information, fraudsters in this scenario steal Aadhaar, PAN, bank account, and other personal information from people. They then misuse these details to empty the account of the account holder. Under no circumstances should you unthinkingly divulge personal information to anyone. Additionally, if you've been the victim of fraud, you need to contact the police right once.
