Grand Opening of the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards 2023: Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat Shares Insights on Natural Farming

The prestigious Millionaire Farmer of India Awards 2023 organized by Krishi Jagran commenced on Wednesday, December 6, with a spectacular Grand Opening Ceremony that aimed to provide farmers with essential inputs and guidelines for increasing their income in agriculture.

The event, held at a prominent venue, began with a ceremonial lamp lighting symbolizing the enlightenment of the agricultural sector.

The ceremony was set in motion with a warm welcome address by the event anchors, expressing gratitude for the presence of esteemed guests, dignitaries, and the farming community.

Dr. U.S. Gautam, the Deputy Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, welcomed the dignitaries and addressed the audience saying, "120 farmers in every district are benefiting from double farmer income," he said

P Sathasivam, Former Chief Justice of India and Former Governor of Kerala while addressing the event said, “I am glad to participate in the inaugural function of the Millionaire Farmer of India and as I come from the farming community I want to continue farming and MFOI signifies the call for transformation in the agriculture landscape and redefine the success in Indian agriculture.”

 

MC Dominic took the stage to extend a heartfelt welcome to all attendees. His speech emphasized the significance of recognizing and celebrating the dedication and hard work of farmers who contribute significantly to the nation's prosperity.

Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat and Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony delivered the opening address and said, “I feel glad to address in this prestigious inaugural event and standing before the progressive farmers, I would like to draw everyone's attention towards global warming and changing air and water dynamics impacting the Indian agriculture which is further leading to 10 to 15 per cent reduction in wheat production and other crops and this activity thereby impacts the farmers first. Carbon dioxide is 60 per cent responsible.”

The event’s high point was the presentation of District Level Awards to outstanding farmers who have excelled in their agricultural endeavours. These awards were conferred by the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, recognizing the remarkable achievements of these individuals in making a substantial impact on the agricultural landscape.

The session boasted an impressive lineup of dignitaries, including the Chief Guest, Acharya Devvrat – Governor of Gujarat, P Sathasivam – Former Chief Justice of India and Former Governor of Kerala, Dr US Gautam – DDG Extension, ICAR, Dr Neelam Patel – Senior Adviser, Agriculture, NITI Aayog, Mahesh Kulkarni – Head Marketing, Mahindra & Mahindra, MC Dominic – Founder & Editor in Chief, Krishi Jagran, and Shiny Dominic – Managing Director, Krishi Jagran. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration between the government, industry, and media in promoting the welfare of farmers.

The session concluded with a gracious vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all attendees, sponsors, and collaborators for their valuable contributions.
