Haryana Utilizes Drones for Efficient Infrastructure Project Surveys & Crop Monitoring

According to a source, the Haryana government is employing drones to inspect infrastructure projects, monitor agriculture and horticulture crops, and monitor sensitive regions for security purposes.

Drone Imaging and Information Service of Haryana Ltd (DRIISHYA), a government-owned entity, provides the state government with innovative, adaptable, and cost-effective drone-based geographical information solutions.

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal further stated that the Centre has underlined the importance of using drones and capturing photographs to assess crop production and crop loss due to inclement weather, so that farmers can be compensated properly.

According to the Chief Secretary, DRIISHYA would provide drone pilot training to the state's young, resulting in job prospects. He also stated that the state government is deploying drones to combat illegal mining and ensure sustainable mining practices in the state. 

Drones have been used by the state government to monitor and prevent stubble burning. With this step, the number of occurrences of stubble-burning has decreased by 47% compared to the previous year. According to an official statement, he is now striving to reduce stubble burning cases to zero active fire events.

In terms of startups in Haryana, he stated that the state is becoming a centre for the country's robust startup ecosystem. He stated that while Haryana is a small state geographically, it contributes 6.5 percent of overall GST revenue collected by the Union Government, "which speaks to the state's economic success."

The Chief Secretary went on to say that the state government has provided both fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for the state's startup culture. With 65 percent of the population in the working age group of 15-59 years, the state possesses productive manpower. He stated that the state government is establishing an Incubation Center in institutions.
