Sanjeev Kumar Singh, the Head of KVK in Phek, Nagaland, made a significant visit to the Krishi Jagran office on Wednesday, January 10. His purpose was to collect the prestigious Millionaire Farmer of India Award trophy on behalf of two exceptional farmers from the northeast region: Mrs. Kuhukhrulu Khamo, the district-level winner, and Mrs. Vezokholo Chuzo, the national award winner.

Welcoming Singh, MC Dominic, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Krishi Jagran, expressed his delight at the visit, emphasizing the special significance of the New Year and hinting at the potential for new collaborations with the northeast. Dominic also highlighted the remarkable work done by farmers in the region, stressing the importance of global recognition for their efforts.

Singh, discussing the selection of two northeast farmers for the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards, mentioned the characteristic shyness and hesitancy prevalent among farmers in the region.

Moreover, Singh shared a fascinating anecdote illustrating the honesty and integrity prevalent in Nagaland's agricultural community. He described a common vegetable market where farmers label their produce with a bamboo stick, pricing them and leaving a box for money collection. Customers, in turn, pick their desired vegetables and leave the appropriate payment in the box, all without any supervision.

"This unique system operates seamlessly without any deceit," Singh explained, highlighting the mutual trust and fairness between the customers and farmers in this practice.

Sanjeev Kumar Singh's visit not only symbolizes the acknowledgment of northeast farmers' achievements but also sheds light on the region's distinctive agricultural practices, emphasizing integrity and trust within the farming community.
