ICAR-CCARI Organizes Backyard Poultry Farming Programme in North Goa for Krishak Swarn Samruddhi Week

ICAR-CCARI, North Goa, organized a backyard poultry farming programme during Krishak Swarn Samruddhi Week. The event highlighted government initiatives for farmers, with 96 participants, including 70 men and 26 women.

The ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North Goa, held a special programme on backyard poultry farming on 27th September 2024 as part of Krishak Swarn Samruddhi Week celebrations.

Rajesh Faldessai, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Cumbarjua, Goa, attended as the Chief Guest and spoke about the government’s ongoing efforts for the Swayampurna Goa initiative. He also addressed the relief measures for farmers affected by the recent heavy rains in the region.

Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director of ICAR-CCARI, provided insights into Krishak Swarn Samruddhi Week, which commemorates the Golden Jubilee year of the first KVK’s establishment in the country. He emphasized the role of KVKs in ensuring sustainable food, nutritional, environmental, and livelihood security for rural farming communities through various extension programs.

The event saw active participation, with 96 farmers attending, including 70 men and 26 women.
