ICAR-NIPB Celebrates Its 5th Foundation Day at IARI, New Delhi

The Foundation Day of the ICAR - National Institute for Plant Biotechnology saw the participation of former directors of the institute, reinforcing the sense of continuity and shared legacy.

The ICAR - National Institute for Plant Biotechnology marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 5th Foundation Day at the B P Pal Auditorium, IARI Campus, New Delhi, on January 16, 2024. The event was graced by distinguished personalities from the agricultural and scientific sectors, adding prestige to the occasion.

Among the esteemed attendees were dignitaries such as Dr Sanjay Kumar, Chairman, the Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board; Dr T Mohapatra, Chairperson, Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights; Dr T R Sharma, Deputy Director General, Crop Science at ICAR; Dr D K Yadava, Assistant Director General for Seeds at ICAR; and Professor Sudhir Kumar Sopory, Former Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University.

A notable highlight of the celebration was the distinguished lecture delivered by Dr Santanu Bhattacharya, Director,  Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Tirupati. The lecture, titled 'Use of Alternative Technology for Sustainable Pest Control in Crops and Sensor Design for Agriculture,' provided valuable insights into the various approaches for addressing challenges in agriculture. Dr Bhattacharya's expertise added an enriching layer to the Foundation Day festivities.

The event also saw the participation of former directors of the institute, further reinforcing the sense of continuity and shared legacy. The 5th Foundation Day of the ICAR - National Institute for Plant Biotechnology stood as a momentous occasion, bringing together distinguished individuals, scholars, and experts to celebrate the institute's journey and pave the way for future advancements in the realm of plant biotechnology.
