IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022: New Faces from Chemical, Petrochemical & Pharma Make it to the list

Adani was far ahead of Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries (Mukesh Ambani & family), whose wealth increased 11% over the previous year.

Gautam Adani, the second richest person in the world and the richest man in India has added Rs. 1,600 crores per day for the last year according to IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022 released yesterday. Now with an estimated wealth of Rs 10,94,400 crore, the Gautam Adani family has topped the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022.

Coming up second on the list are Mukesh Ambani and their family with an estimated wealth of Rs 7,94,700 crore, making them the second richest in India.

In third place, Cyrus Poonawala and family of the Serum Institute of India sit with an estimated wealth of Rs 205400 crore.

Shiv Nadar and family of HCL have dropped from their place at 3rd in the list from last year with an estimated wealth of Rs 1858800 crore.

At 5th place comes Radhakishan Damani and family of the Avenue Supermarts with an estimated wealth of Rs 175100 crore.

Adani takes another spot on the list with Vinod Shantilal Adani and family taking the 6th rant in the list with an estimated wealth of Rs 169000 crore.

Dropping down 3 ranks from last year in the list, SP Hinduja and family, owner of Hinduja, rank at 7th in the list with an estimated wealth of Rs 165000 crore.

Similarly, LN Mittal and family who own Arcelor Mittal, find themselves at rank 7 after a drop of 3 ranks with an estimated wealth of Rs 151800 crore.

Dili Sanghvi of the Sun Pharmaceutical Industries is at rank 9 in the list with an estimated wealth of Rs 151800 crore.

At rank 10, Uday Kotak of the Kotak Mahindra Bank sits with an estimated wealth of Rs 119400 crore.

The Vakil family, who own shares of Asian Paints, claimed three slots on the list of the top 10 new additions. Nehal Abhay Vakil tops the list with a net worth of 11,700 crore, followed by Vivek Abhay Vakil and Bhairavi Abhay Vakil in that order.

Salil Singhal and family, who own PI Industries sit at rank 56 in the top 100 list with an estimated wealth of Rs 27000 crore, the only agrochemical company to make it into the list.

Pharmaceuticals took the maximum number of spots, with 36 entrepreneurs, followed by chemicals & petrochemicals (23) and software & services (23) in terms of the number of dollar billionaires (21). An all-time high of 735 entrepreneurs, or 67%, are self-made, up from 659 last year and 367 (54%), five years ago.
