IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warning for These States. Check Latest Weather Update Here

Monsoon rainfall in India

According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), an increase in rainfall activity over North India is likely from July 27th onwards due to a northward shift of the Monsoon Trough. Squally weather with wind speeds of 40-50 kph gusting to 60 kph is expected over the northwest Arabian Sea and the adjacent northeast Arabian Sea.

Even though no state has issued a red or orange alert for July 26, heavy rain is expected in isolated areas across Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Gujarat region, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Telangana.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in isolated locations across Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Kerala & Mah

Strong winds of 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph are very likely over the West Central and adjoining Southwest Arabian Sea off the coast of Somalia, and 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph over the West Central and adjoining East Central Arabian Sea.

Squally weather with wind speeds of 40-50 km/h gusting to 60 km/h is also expected over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal and the adjacent equatorial Indian Ocean. As a result, fishermen are advised not to venture too far into these areas.

From July 26 to 28, expect widespread to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Gujarat, Konkan, Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Karnataka, and Telangana.
