India, including Delhi-NCR and West UP, is still experiencing extreme cold. While temperatures plummeted to 5 degrees in some of the nearby cities, Delhi's temperature was recorded at 7 degrees. On the one hand, the fog kept visibility poor, while on the other, the cold wave is still making it icy cold.

Moreover, according to forecasts from the meteorological department, it will be cold even throughout the day. Fog prevents the sun from shining on one hand, while the cold wave has further lowered the temperature on the other.

States like Delhi-NCR, Haryana, West UP, Punjab, and Rajasthan are still experiencing a chilly spell. The temperature in Bihar, East UP, and Madhya Pradesh stayed between 7 and 8 degrees Celsius. According to the meteorological department, it will also stay extremely chilly all day long across Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Western Rajasthan.

In the Rajasthani cities of Churu, Jaisalmer, and Sriganganagar, the temperature is rapidly dropping to zero. Snow fell at Rajasthan's Mount Abu as a result of the temperature drop. People at Mount Abu awoke to find the area covered in snow. The windows of the cars were covered in crusted snow.

Here are the guidelines for cold wave safety provided by the India Meteorological Department:

  • Wear enough layers of clothing for the cold and prepare emergency supplies for unexpected needs.

  • When there is a cold wave outdoors, stay as much as you can indoors to avoid being exposed to the chilly breeze.

  • Remain dry. If at all possible, change into dry clothing right after to avoid losing body heat.

  • Choose mittens over gloves since they are made of wool, which will keep you warmer and better protect you from the cold.

  • To stay warm, occasionally sip on warm water or hot liquids like herbal tea or coffee.

  • By taking care of their medical or personal needs, look after the young and the elderly.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol. Your body temperature drops as a result.

  • Avoid massaging the frostbitten area. More harm could result from this.

  • Do not ignore shivering. It is a crucial first indication that the body is losing heat and a cue to head back inside as soon as possible.
