The weather office warned that light to moderate showers could occur on September 18 in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, and other states that have been battered by severe rain over the previous few days.

The weather forecasting agency further stated that a trough is flowing between 3.5 and 4.5 km above mean sea level from the northeast Arabian Sea to the cyclonic circulation linked with a low-pressure area across central sections of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and West Madhya Pradesh.

Over the next two days, there will likely be less rain in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. During the next few days, it is expected that several eastern states will experience significant rain.

Heavy downpours are anticipated in the Western Himalayan region, encompassing Uttarakhand and some areas of Uttar Pradesh, through September 21.

"Fairly Widespread/Widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh on September 17; Uttarakhand on September 17 and 21 and over; and East Uttar Pradesh on September 17, 20 and 21," the IMD stated in its weather bulletin.

Up until September 20, Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also predicted to have heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning. On September 21 and 22, a few isolated areas of very heavy rainfall are expected over Odisha.

On September 18 and 19, Assam and Meghalaya may get widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning.

On September 19, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience the same. Over the next five days, the MeT Department predicts moderate rainfall activity over Northeast India and the South Peninsular.
