IMD’s Latest Forecast on Heatwaves and Hailstorms: Which States Will Finally Get Some Relief?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its latest forecast, highlighting various weather phenomena ranging from heatwaves to hailstorms across the country.

Heatwave conditions are expected in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh today, with similar conditions will continue in Madhya Pradesh on May 10. Gujarat will experience hot and humid weather until May 13, while Kerala's hot and humid conditions are expected to continue until May 10, hoping there might be some relief from the sweltering temperatures.

Delhi is set to experience partly cloudy weather today, with temperatures ranging from 39 to 26 degrees Celsius. However, relief is on the horizon as a wet spell is predicted from May 10 to May 12. The national capital can finally experience a sense of relief.

Rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy winds are predicted to hit several states. West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are all expected to experience various degrees of rainfall until May 15.

West Bengal and Sikkim can expect these conditions until May 11, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha until May 12, Maharashtra until May 12, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh until May 12, and Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until May 15.

A cyclonic wind hovers over Tamil Nadu, along with a trough/wind discontinuity from northeast Rajasthan to South Interior Karnataka, is likely to result in light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, and Karnataka until May 12. Heavy showers are anticipated in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until May 11, and in Kerala on May 11.

Hailstorm activity is expected over Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra on May 9, and over Uttarakhand until May 12.
