IMD Weather Update: Flood Alert in Delhi, Cyclonic Condition in UP

According to IMD, Yamuna has crossed the danger mark in Delhi due to heavy rains that occurred in the last few days in the capital city.

Yamuna becoming dangerous in Delhi

According to IMD, Yamuna has crossed the danger mark in Delhi due to heavy rains that occurred in the last few days in the capital city. Water level in the river was recorded at 205.33 m at the Old Railway Bridge at 11 am. This is higher than the ‘warning mark’ of 204.50 m. Evacuation of people residing in Yamuna floodplains is going on.

Rain forecast in North India

As per Skymet weather prediction, the next 24 hours will witness light to moderate rainfall with a few heavy spells of rain over Gangetic West Bengal, South areas of Bihar, North areas of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, North Madhya Pradesh, South Uttar Pradesh, Northeast Rajasthan, and parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Haryana.

The rest of Bihar, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Punjab, Delhi, Konkan, Vidarbha, and Goa.

Light rain can occur over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch, and Telangana, plus West Rajasthan, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.

Cyclonic condition in UP

As per Skymet weather forecast, cyclonic circulation is hovering over East Uttar Pradesh. There is a well-defined low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and nearby areas. The pressure will move in westerly direction over South Bihar and Jharkhand and towards Southeast areas of Uttar Pradesh.

Monsoon trough is passing through Meerut, Varanasi, Hisar, Hardoi, Firozpur, and Gaya. The center of well-defined low-pressure area is over Gangetic West Bengal and over Southeast towards the Northeast of Bay of Bengal.
