India's Milk Production Grew Tenfold After Independence, Says Amit Shah
At the 49th dairy industry convention on March 18 in Gandhinagar, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah noted that India's milk production had expanded tenfold since independence.
At the 49th dairy industry convention, Shah stated that the dairy business has contributed to India's population growth of four times between 1970 and 2022, as well as a tenfold increase in milk production.
"Our milk processing capacity is around 126 million litres per day, which is the highest in the world," the minister added. The dairy industry has also contributed to the country's development. The corporative dairy has made a significant contribution that has benefited farmers, according to Shah.
"The corporative dairy has helped poor farmers and women become Atmanirbhar. The IDA has played an important role in the development of the dairy sector. The industrial session has been organised for the farmer's technical session," Shah said.
"The dairy industry is vital to the Indian economy. The dairy industry contributes more than Rs 10 lakh crore. "It is associated with 45 crore people," he added. Shah will be in Gujarat for two days beginning Saturday, attending various public events.
The Home Minister will then attend a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at Gandhinagar's Circuit House. In the afternoon, Shah will launch a free food campaign at Gandhinagar's Civil Hospital, then inaugurate Nardipur pond, lay the foundation stone, and e-inaugurate various other development works at Vasan pond and Kalol.
Later that evening, he will attend the Maharaja Sayajirao University convocation at the MS University Convocation Grounds in Vadodara.
The Home Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Junagadh district bank headquarters and inaugurate the APMC Kisan Bhawan in the agriculture camp at APMC Dolatpara in Junagadh on Sunday.
Later, Shah will pray at the Somnath temple and e-inaugurate various development projects with the launch of the Somnath Trust's mobile app. Shah's two-day visit to Gujarat will conclude with his attendance at the Gujarat Central University Convocation Ceremony.
