Integrate Poultry with Horticulture for Enhancing Income

Doubling the Farmers Income is the Mission of the Government of India as pr the Mission of the Hon`ble Prime Minister of India.

Indian Council of Agriculture Research and the Indian Agriculture Research Institute along with the Krishi Vigyan Kendras, propagating the message and trying to disseminate the information among the Farmers. Recently Dr. T Mohapatra, DG, ICAR and Sy DARE visted KVK, Ganderbal.

Appreciating the efforts of scientists of KVK-Ganderbal, for bumper seed and vegetable production and innovatively establishing Horti-Poultry Model at the Kendra. Dr. Mohapatra said, “This is the novel way of realizing the dream of doubling farmer’s income has the potential to be exercised at large besides generating employment, entrepreneurship and women empowerment”. 

Integrating poultry with the horticulture can increase the income of approximately Rupees one lac eighty-five thousand over and above the normal income from an orchard of one hector per year.

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), visited KVK-Ganderbal on 10th June 2018. During his visit, he interacted with scientists and surveyed apple orchard, field crops, vegetable block and various demonstration units established at the KVK.
