Even though animals provided under the Chief Minister Livestock Development Mission should be insured, there is a delay in the insurance of the animals

The government of Jharkhand will make certain that all rural livestock provided through the Livestock Development Scheme are protected by insurance to avoid financial difficulties in case of a viral outbreak.

We have witnessed how villages that lost their domestic animals to viral epidemics like avian flu ended up in financial ruin. Sadly, the majority of Livestock Development Scheme beneficiaries aren't even aware that their animals are insured and that they wouldn't lose anything in the event of death. We would emphasize educating farmers and animal keepers about government insurance programs in a speech at a Ranchi event to appoint companies to supply livestock and run Krishak Pathshalas, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, "Programs are available on paper, but their implementation is not done correctly due to lack of awareness among recipients.

Soren also mentioned that shortly a meeting with bank representatives and insurance companies would be organized to make sure that animals delivered under livestock programs are insured from the start.

Even though animals provided under the Chief Minister Livestock Development Mission should be insured, there is a delay in the insurance of the animals, according to officials in the Jharkhand agricultural, animal husbandry, and cooperative societies.

Insurance companies don't assign staff to verify claims in isolated, rural locations, and this prevents animals from getting insured. Illiterate villagers are unaware of the importance of insurance, so when animal viral outbreaks occur, they face financial difficulties, according to a senior official.

On Wednesday, the director of the animal husbandry, Chandran Kumar, announced that 28 insurance companies had been appointed.

"By the chief minister's order, we are giving each animal provided by the Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Yojana more emphasis in terms of insurance. By Wednesday, we already had 28 insurance companies on board. We will appoint more insurance companies to the department. After empanelment, they will have a duty to assign officers to even faraway blocks to finish the animal distribution insurance formalities,” according to Chandan Kumar.

Jharkhand offers a substantial subsidy of 79% for buying livestock under the livestock development program, which covers a percentage of the insurance cost for the animals. Additionally, widows, childless couples, and disabled women receive a 90% subsidy when purchasing animals.

Although the subsidy offered to SC/ST beneficiaries under the Kamdhenu Dairy Farming Scheme has increased from 33.33 percent to 75% for the purchase of 10 milch animals (cows and buffaloes under the Small Dairy Plan) and five milch animals (cows and buffaloes). The subsidy offered to recipients from all other categories except SC/ST has risen from 25% to 50% at the same time.
