Farmers in Mysuru district have been encouraged to take advantage of the Karnataka Raitha Suraksha Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a crop insurance scheme introduced by the State Government. The Deputy Director of Agriculture, Chandrashekar, emphasized the importance of enrolling in the program before the approaching registration deadlines.

Under the scheme, a total of 19 crops will be covered, providing protection to farmers against financial distress caused by crop failures. Specifically targeting farmers engaged in rainfed agriculture, the insurance scheme aims to support them during challenging times. By offering financial aid in case of crop loss, the scheme enables farmers to overcome the associated economic hardships.

The registration deadline for crops such as sesame, sunflower, black gram, green gram, and cowpeas is June 30. Farmers cultivating groundnut, cotton, maize, togari, turmeric, ragi under rainfed and irrigated conditions, corn, tomato, and potato have until July 31 to register. For paddy and horse gram, the registration deadline is August 16.

To access detailed information about the premium rates applicable to different crops per acre, the Department of Agriculture has published the necessary details. Farmers can obtain this information from the nearest Raita Samparka Kendra, ensuring they have the relevant knowledge to make informed decisions regarding their crop insurance coverage.

The implementation of the Karnataka Raitha Suraksha Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana reflects the government's commitment to supporting farmers and safeguarding their livelihoods.

By providing crop insurance, the scheme offers a safety net to farmers practising rainfed agriculture, helping them mitigate potential financial risks arising from crop failures.
