On the occasion of Kisan Diwas, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research celebrates ‘Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan’ Week from 23 December to 29 December every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Late Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh. The celebration is being held in honor of their significant contribution to promoting the use of science for the benefit of farmers.
ICAR Institutes and KVKs across the country are hosting a variety of farmer awareness programs aimed at showcasing and demonstrating new technological advances for increasing agricultural productivity and profitability. Farmers who have successfully adopted new technologies and contributed to the widespread adoption of new technologies by farmers are recognized during the event.
This year, Krishi Jagran is also organizing various webinars and events during the Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan Week from 23-29 December 2021.
Today, on the occasion of Kisan Diwas and the first day of Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan Week, a Webinar on Technoculture in Agriculture was conducted today wherein a progressive farmer and many eminent personalities would share their knowledge and experiences.
Shruti Joshi, Content Manager started the program by welcoming all the guests and participants. Then she invited MC Dominic, Founder, and Editor-in-Chief of Krishi Jagran & Agriculture World to officially start the webinar.
MC Dominic welcomed all the guests and told them the objectives of celebrating this program. As farmers have always been the top priority of Krishi Jagran, MC Dominic first invited Ashwini Singh Chauhan, a progressive farmer and one of the speakers of the webinar.
Chauhan started by thanking Krishi Jagran for organizing a webinar that will be beneficial for many farmers in the country. He focused on the importance of anusandhan (research) and requested to add the term "Jai Anusandhan" in the "Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan" week from next year onwards.
Dr. Prem Shankar Tiwari, Principal Scientist, and Head, ICAR, Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, MP, focused on the importance of technologies and invention of the latest machinery in the field of agriculture.
He said, "It used to take months to do sowing, and now month's work has been reduced to a few days. Our organization is mainly focusing on IOT based machines, Drones, and such machines that are based on the censor to make agricultural activities more effective and efficient."
On the other hand, Sahin Nandwana, Co-Founder of Bighaat said, "Government says to remove the middle-man while middle-man is not the issue. We have observed that most of the time farmers are unable to get quality input and prices are not transparent. The main problem is due to an imbalance in the supply chain." He highlighted that another problem is the lack of information to the farmers.
Vivek Shukla, Director, and Co-Founder of 'Rise Hydroponics' also shared his thoughts on the importance of the latest technology. He said, "We started this work with a few important issues such as food safety, environmental factors, and non-productive land. Ultimately, technology was the only thing that helped us out."
He requested and invited farmers to visit their farms so that they can impart knowledge of the latest technologies they have applied to enhance agricultural productivity.
