According to a CBDT circular, if a citizen does not link his PAN with an Aadhaar card by June 31, he will be fined double

The government has extended the deadline for linking a PAN card to an Aadhaar card from March 31, 2022, to March 31, 2023. However, there is now a fee for linking a PAN to an Aadhar card.

The CBDT stated in a notification issued on March 29, 2022, said that after March 31, 2022, a penalty of Rs 500 would be levied for linking the Aadhar card with the PAN card.

According to a CBDT circular, if a citizen does not link his PAN with an Aadhaar card by June 31, he will be fined double.

Penalty Amount

That is, if he does not complete this work by July 1, he will be fined Rs 1000 instead of Rs 500, and he will be unable to link his Aadhaar card with his PAN card.

If you have not yet linked your Aadhaar to your PAN, you should do so as soon as possible. Otherwise, you will be required to pay twice the amount as of July 1. If you want to pay the penalty, use challan number ITNS 280.

Pan Card to be Rendered Inactive After March 31, 2023

It is worth noting that taxpayers have been asked to link their Aadhaar and PAN cards by March 31, 2023. If one does not link his/her Aadhaar to his/her PAN by this date, the PAN card will be rendered ineffective.

Taxpayers will be fined Rs 500 if they link their PAN to Aadhaar before June 30 and Rs 1000 if they link their Aadhaar after July 1. You will be unable to do any financial transactions that requires PAN card once it has been deactivated.
