The Haryana Agriculture Department has made it mandatory for farmers to register on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal in order to purchase Rabi crops at MSP. So far, only around one lakh farmers have registered on the government portal.
The Agriculture Department announced that the registration on portal will continue till 31st of January.
Approximately 8 lakh 61 thousand farmers in Haryana are yet to be registered. To get these farmers registered, the process of sending SMS on mobile has been started on Friday. These SMS will be sent once a week to farmers in order for them to register on the portal as soon as possible. After completion of this process, the verification work will be started by the department from February 1.
Farmers encountered a lot of difficulty in the last Rabi season due to the delay in registration on the portal. Farmers' records were not matching. As a result, the Agriculture Department is currently sending SMS messages to farmers encouraging them to register as soon as possible in December itself. Farmers are being alerted to register on the portal, according to Hardeep Singh, Director of Agriculture Department.
In the primary phase, SMS has been sent on mobile to 8.61 lakh farmers simultaneously, so that farmers can register on the portal. The portal is also linked to the Revenue Department's land records for farmers. An estimated target of low yield of wheat has been set by the Agriculture Department in the year 2021-22. This time wheat will be sown in 14 thousand less area than last year.
Emphasis will be on the increased production of pulses, grains, and oilseeds. This time sowing is estimated in 25.50 lakh hectare in 2021-22 in which 123.68 lakh quintals will be produced. The yield is anticipated to be 1000 quintals with 50 thousand hectares of gram, 67 thousand quintals with 20 thousand hectares of barley, and 12 thousand quintals with 10 thousand hectares of pulses.
At present there are total 16.28 lakh farmer families in the state. These include 8.02 lakh families having one lakh hectares, 3.14 lakhs with one to two lakh hectares and 5.12 lakh farmer families having land more than 2 lakh hectares.
