Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, launched several pivotal initiatives under the PM-Kisan Scheme in Delhi today. These initiatives include the centralized ‘Kisan Rakshak Helpline 14447 and Portal,’ the Agri-Insurance Sandbox Framework Platform SARTHI, and a Learning Management System (LMS) Platform. The launch event witnessed the presence of Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Food Processing Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Choudhary, and Secretary Manoj Ahuja.

Strengthening Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

Since its inception in 2016, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has played a crucial role in providing a safety net for farmers in India through crop insurance. However, recognizing the need for a streamlined and accessible process, the government has introduced the Krishi Rakshak Portal and Helpline (KRPH) 14447. This platform aims to provide multilingual support, transparent communication, and real-time resolution of grievances related to compensation delays and insurance queries, ensuring prompt support for farmers.

Empowering Farmers Through Technology

Union Minister Munda highlighted the government's commitment to supporting and empowering farmers. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to increase farmers' income and make them self-sufficient through various schemes. The Krishi Rakshak Portal and Helpline, along with the Sandbox Framework and LMS Platform, were launched to enhance technical and digital empowerment for farmers.  Munda stressed the government's focus on leveraging technology for the betterment of farmers' lives.

Learning Management System (LMS) for Skill Enhancement

A significant aspect of the launch was the Learning Management System (LMS), developed in collaboration with the National E-Governance Division (NeGD). The LMS aims to provide essential skills and knowledge to stakeholders, including farmers, insurance companies, government officials, and state government representatives, involved in the PMFBY. It facilitates training and knowledge sharing through interactive modules, personalized programs, and accessible resources, contributing to efficient crop insurance and agricultural credit. The LMS can be accessed on https://elearn-pmfbykcc.lms.gov.in.

Comprehensive Digital Insurance Platform - SARTHI

Recognizing the multifaceted risks faced by farmers beyond crop losses, the government launched the comprehensive digital insurance platform SARTHI in collaboration with UNDP India. SARTHI extends coverage to health, life, home, shop, agriculture implements, motor, and parametric products. Accessible via the AIDE app on the Android App Store, SARTHI marks a significant advancement beyond traditional crop insurance. With 56 crore applications already enrolled under PMFBY, SARTHI provides a diverse array of products tailored to farmers' needs, including coverage for vital assets like tractor machinery.

The launch of the LMS, KRPH-14447, and SARTHI represents the latest milestone in the Ministry of Agriculture's transformative journey in Indian agriculture. These initiatives, complemented by cutting-edge technologies such as YES-Tech, Digi-Claim, WINDS, CROPIC, and AIDE app, underline the government's unwavering commitment to innovation, resilience, and sustainability in farming.
