More than 200 Farmers attend Vegetable Day Event at SKUAST-Jammu

Vegetable Day Event at SKUAST-Jammu

On 23 February, the Vegetable Science and Floriculture Branch of SKUAST-Jammu organized a Vegetable-Day event. 

The event took place under the leadership of Dr. J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, who inagurated the function and distributed bittergourd, bottlegourd, cucumber, tomato, brinjal etc. saplings among the progressive farmers raised under low-cost secured systems. 

He was accompanied by Dr. Jag Paul Sharma, SKUAST-Jammu Research Chief, and Dr. R.K. Samnotra, Professor and Head of Research. Farmers were urged to introduce early vegetable processing technologies for higher premiums. 

Dr. Sandeep Chopra, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Satesh Kumar, Dr. Manoj Kumar and Dr. Anil Bhushan, scientists from the Division, along with PG scholars, explored different facets of summer vegetable production with farmers and recommended that they follow innovative methods of vegetable production to double farm income. More than 200 farmers and women from different areas and districts of the Jammu region attended the event.
