MP Government to Provide Rs 12,000 Annually to Women in the State

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has announced that his administration will introduce a new programme providing Rs 1,000 per month to women from financially poor background in the state. It is worth mentioning that Assembly elections in MP will take place at the end of the year.

As per the media reports, Chouhan while speaking at a function at the banks of the Narmada River in Narmadapuram city on Saturday said a total of Rs 60,000 crore will be spent on this initiative over the course of five years.

Just like Ladli Lakshmi Scheme, the government will introduce Ladli Bahina Scheme for low-income women from all parts of the lower and middle classes. The CM further said that under this scheme a sum of Rs 1,000 per month, or Rs 12,000 per year would be given to women in the state.

He told media that one crore women from various backgrounds will be able to get advantage from this scheme even if they are already taking benefit of other programmes.

He said, "I have to empower my sisters financially. If they are strong then the family would be strong. And if the family is strong then the society will be strong. And when the society is strong then the state will be strong".

Chouhan also announced government’s upcoming plans to set up a Narmada corridor and Narmada Lok on the lines of Mahakal Lok at Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain.

The CM along with his wife Sadhana Singh offered prayers on the Narmada river banks on the occasion of the Narmada Jayanti on January 28.
