Mumbai Hit by Heavy Rains: Waterlogging Disrupts Local Train Services
Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rainfall since Sunday, leading to waterlogging in several areas. Local train services are witnessing a temporary halt. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy downpours for the city and surrounding regions in the coming days.
The overnight rains in Mumbai caused significant waterlogging, creating long traffic jams across the city. Local train services between Khadavli and Titwala stations on the Kalyan-Kasara route were shut-down due to fallen trees and debris on the tracks caused by the storm. Passengers faced delays and cancellations as technicians worked to clear the tracks and resume services.
The IMD forecast indicates moderate to heavy rainfall throughout Monday, with a chance of thunderstorms at night. The orange alert for Mumbai remains in effect until July 12th, while Pune and Satara are on red alert due to the possibility of heavy rains and thunderstorms.
The heavy showers are expected to extend to other parts of Maharashtra as well. Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions are likely to experience heavy rainfall from July 8th to 10th. Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts share Mumbai's orange alert for today and tomorrow.
Residents are advised to stay cautious during this period and follow advisories issued by local authorities.
