NABARD Funds Rs 221.99 Crore for 2,328 New Classrooms and Labs in Punjab

The plan is estimated to benefit 3.80 lakh students in Punjab.

Rs 221.99 crore has been sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) by NABARD to construct 2,328 additional classrooms, 762 labs, and 648 playgrounds in rural schools in all 23 districts of Punjab.

The project also plans to set up 404 integrated science labs, 44 chemistry labs, 62 physics labs, 54 biology labs, 103 computer laboratories, and 55 NSQF labs.

The plan of action is projected to benefit a total of 3.80 lakh students including an estimated new enrolment of 0.35 lakh students in more than 3500 villages. The Department of School Education, Punjab government is presently working on 632 different projects involving the RIDF assistance of Rs 686 crore under various stages of implementation.
