Narendra Singh Tomar Inaugurates the 94th ICAR Foundation Day 2022
Every year on its Foundation Day, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research recognizes and rewards institutions, scientists, instructors, farmers, and agricultural journalists.
This year the 94th ICAR Foundation Day and Award Ceremony are being organized on 16 July 2022 at A P Shinde Symposium Hall, NASC, PUSA, New Delhi.
Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Parshottam Rupala, Union Cabinet Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Kailash Chaudhary along with DG ICAR, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, inaugurated the ICAR 94th Foundation Day & Awards Ceremony - 2022 by lighting the Ceremonial Lamp.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR delivered the welcome address to the gathering.
As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, ICAR has documented the Success Stories of 75,000 Progressive Farmers out of a large number of such farmers across the country.
It was told that during 2014-22, ICAR released more than 1,600 High Yielding Varieties of Field Crops that were Gazette Notified for the farmers’ income augmentation.
In his address, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Director General, ICAR highlighted the achievements of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. He said ICAR’s focus on the development & deployment of Climate-Resilient Varieties & Technologies would continue adding that India has committed to SDGs 2030 for zero hunger and food security-led health and nutrition for all.
Union Agriculture Minister virtually interacted with farmers, including a woman farmer, Shanta Patel. He also thanked the ICAR for documenting 75,000 Farmers' Success Stories on Doubling Farmers' Income.
To accomplish the Prime Minister's aim of doubling farmers' income, ICAR produced State Specific Plans and committed the task to the KVK. KVKs adopted Villages and worked with a technology-centric approach to guide farmers in adopting innovative technological options and good agricultural practices.
