National Capital Wakes up to Light Rain, Cloudy Skies; AQI to Worsen For Next 6 Days
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, the city registered a rainfall of 16 mm between 8:30 AM on Monday and 8:30 AM on Tuesday.
Delhi experienced rainfall on Tuesday with the minimum temperature settling at 16.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below the seasonal average, while the relative humidity in the national capital was recorded at 95 per cent.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city received a rainfall of 16 mm from 8:30 AM on Monday to 8:30 AM on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, RWFC New Delhi tweeted that light rain/drizzle could occur in certain areas of Delhi, including Lajpat Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Kalkaji, Tughlakabad, Chhattarpur, IGNOU, Ayanagar, and Deramandi. Delhi residents woke up to morning showers, and the weather office forecasted a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle later in the day.
The maximum temperature is expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius, whereas, on Monday evening, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32.2 degrees Celsius, a notch below the seasonal average.
The Safdarjung observatory, which is considered the official marker for the national capital, recorded traces of rainfall. Meanwhile, some other observatories like Ayanagar, Gurgaon, and Jafarpur registered 1.2 mm, 4.5 mm, and 8.5 mm of precipitation, respectively, between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
The 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the moderate category at 130 at 9 AM. The government's air quality forecasting agency, SAFAR, has predicted that the air quality will likely oscillate between moderate and poor for the next six days.
The AQI is considered good if it falls between 0 and 50, satisfactory if it ranges from 51 to 100, moderate if it ranges from 101 to 200, poor if it ranges from 201 to 300, and very poor if it ranges from 301 to 400, and severe if it ranges from 401 to 500. AQI above 500 is considered severe-plus.
