NIRF 2024 Rankings: IARI New Delhi Tops Agriculture and Allied Institutes

NIRF Ranking 2024, released by India's Ministry of Education, names the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, New Delhi as the top institution in agriculture.

Ministry of Education, Government of India, has announced the NIRF Ranking 2024, which highlights the top agriculture and allied institutes in the country. Released on August 12, 2024, the rankings provide valuable insights for students aspiring to build careers in agriculture, dairy science, and related sectors.

Leading the rankings this year is the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi, which retains its position as the premier institute for agricultural research and innovation. Known for its groundbreaking research and influential contributions to Indian agriculture, IARI continues to set benchmarks in agricultural education.

The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) in Karnal, Haryana, and Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana, Punjab, have secured the second and third spots, respectively. Both institutions are celebrated for their extensive research in dairy science and agricultural education, significantly advancing sustainable agricultural practices.

IARI, often referred to as the Pusa Institute, offers over 800 programs across 27 disciplines. The institute introduced its BSc Agriculture program in the 2022-23 academic year and is in the process of developing diploma and online courses in agriculture. NDRI, PAU, and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi have maintained their rankings from the previous year.

Notably, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Izatnagar has climbed to the fifth position, displacing Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore, which now ranks sixth in the NIRF 2024 rankings.
