NIRF Ranking 2023: PAU Bags Spot Among State Agriculture Universities in India

The NIRF Ranking 2023: Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) Ludhiana has attained the top spot amongst the State Agricultural Universities (SAU) in India.

NIRF Ranking 2023: The Union Education Government has released the National Institutional Rankings Framework for 2023.

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana has achieved the top position among all agricultural universities in the country. Additionally, the university has also obtained the 54th rank in the overall category.

In the rankings of educational institutes in agriculture and allied sectors, the Ludhiana-based university has attained the third position nationwide. The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in Delhi has secured the top spot, followed by the ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute at second place. Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has achieved the highest rank among state agricultural universities, securing the third position in this category. Overall, PAU has secured the 74th rank among the top 100 institutes in the country.

The eighth spot has been secured by GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology of Kashmir, Srinagar and Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar at the ninth and tenth spot respectively.

NIRF Rankings 2023: Relevancy of State Agricultural Universities

Remarkably, out of the 62 state agricultural universities (SAU) considered, Ludhiana's esteemed university, often credited with pioneering the Green Revolution in Punjab, emerges as the frontrunner with an impressive overall score of 65.98, placing it at the top on the chart.

While addressing the media, Dr SS Gosal, the vice-chancellor of PAU, expressed pride in Punjab as PAU achieved the highest position among the 62 state agricultural universities nationwide.

Dr Gosal stated that PAU secured the top rank among these universities and holds the third position in the agriculture category, preceded by the national institutes IARI and ICAR. He further emphasized that PAU stands as the leading state agricultural university in the country.
