Noida International Airport Will Develop UP'S Tourism & Agriculture Sector, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid foundation stone of Noida International Airpor (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. He was accompanied by chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia at the project site.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation for the Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. At the project site, he was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia. 

On the occasion, the Prime Minister stated that the Noida International Airport would help to strengthen the tourist and agriculture sectors in Uttar Pradesh, and pilgrims will be able to conveniently go to temples and shrines throughout the state. 

"The tourism industry in landlocked regions like Uttar Pradesh would gain immensely from the Noida International Airport. Pilgrims would now be able to travel more freely to temples and shrines in Uttar Pradesh "PM said. 

"The agricultural potential of Western UP will skyrocket, allowing small farmers to export commodities conveniently, effectively, and instantaneously," he added. 

PM Modi further said that Uttar Pradesh will henceforth be recognized for its 'Uttam Suvidha & Nirantar Nivesh.' 

 Here is all you need to know about the new airport:

  6. Noida International Airport is strategically located, approximately 72 kms from IGI Airport, 40 kms from Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad, respectively, 28 kms from Greater Noida, 65 kms from Gurugram, and 130 kms from Agra.

  7. The proposed project's cost is anticipated to be between 1500to Rs.20000 crore, with the first phase of the airport being built for roughly Rs.10050 crore.

  8. This airport will also serve as a logistics gateway for northern India, since it is being developed for the first time in India as an integrated multi-modal cargo hub. The dedicated cargo terminal will have a capacity of 20 lakh metric tonnes, which will be extended to 80 lakh metric tonnes.

11.  This will be India's first airport with net zero emissions. The airport has designated a plot where trees that will be removed from the project site will be planted.

12. In this way, it will give the form of a a jungle park. Along with conserving all local wildlife, the airport's development will take full consideration of nature.

13. The airport is being built by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL),a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich International Airport AG, the project's Swiss concessionaire. 

14. This would also assist in reducing traffic congestion at Indira Gandhi International Airport. For the last 30-35 years, there has been a demand in this area for such an international airport.

 

  1. In partnership with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and India, Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL) is establishing Noida International Airport under the PPP model.

  2. The airport's construction is expected to be completed by 2024.
