PAU Invites Young Farmers for Integrated Crop Production Training Course
PAU's three-month "Integrated Crop Production" course aims to equip young farmers with modern agricultural skills, enhance technical knowledge, and promote sustainable agri-entrepreneurship.
The Directorate of Extension Education at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is inviting applications for a three-month training course on "Integrated Crop Production" to inspire young farmers in Punjab. Scheduled from January 1 to March 28, 2025, this program targets rural youth aged 20 to 40 with a minimum educational qualification of matriculation, aiming to equip them with modern agricultural techniques and entrepreneurial skills.
Dr. Rupinder Kaur Toor, Associate Director (Skill Development), highlighted that the course is designed to enhance technical and scientific knowledge about agriculture-specific occupations. It focuses on enabling participants to establish agri-based enterprises, thereby promoting income generation and sustainable livelihoods. Interested candidates can obtain application forms from Krishi Vigyan Kendras, PAU's Skill Development Centre, or apply online via the university's official website. The deadline for applications is December 23, with interviews scheduled for December 30 at 9:30 AM at the Skill Development Centre.
To complete the application process, candidates must bring their matriculation certificate, Aadhar card, and proof of age. Those selected for the program will need to pay a refundable security fee of Rs 1,000, which will be returned upon successful course completion. The course fee is also set at Rs 1,000, and lodging charges are Rs 300 per month, plus 12% GST. This structure ensures affordability for all participants.
Integrated crop production, the core focus of this training, is a holistic farming strategy that combines various agricultural practices. It emphasizes balancing conventional and organic methods to enhance crop yields, reduce environmental impact, and promote sustainability. This approach addresses the growing demand for environmentally friendly farming practices while ensuring safe and affordable food production.
