Farmers Protesting The Three Bills

On the occasion of completion of 11 months of the farmers’ protest, the farmers on Tuesday held a protest in various parts of Jalandhar slogans of “Pehle kanoon vapsi fir Ghar vapsi” was their key slogan.

They demanded compensation for agricultural losses this year, as well as a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price for all crops, in addition to repealing the disputed farm regulations. Farmers asked Ajay Mishra, the Union Minister of State for Home, to be arrested and removed from the Union Cabinet for the Lakhimpur Kheri event. Farmers told the federal government and the Punjab government that if their demands were not honoured, they would escalate their protests.

At the SDM's office in Shahkot, members of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) held a protest. From October 15 to 26, district president Salwinder Singh Janiyan and district general secretary Gurmel Singh Rerwan of the KMSC, Jalandhar, are protesting at the Singhu border in Delhi.

Harpreet Singh Kotli Gajran, press secretary, and Satnam Singh Raiwal, district committee member, among others, took part in the dharna in accordance with the state committee's orders.

Talking about the various troubles that farmers had to face in the 2021 season especially the shortage of fertilizers at the agricultural ministry’s depository during crucial times of sending for the rabbi season Harpreet Singh Kotli also told the reporters that “We seek immediate compensation for damage caused to crops by heavy hailstorms, removal of difficulties in procurement of paddy, elimination of shortage of DAP fertilizer and its black marketing and withdrawing of fuel prices,”.

Farmers urged the enactment of a legislation ensuring the purchase of 23 crops, as well as the urgent repeal of the Electricity Amendment Bill, 2020, and the Air Pollution Act, 2020, in a memorandum to the Shahkot SDM.

Its been a year since the start of the Farmers protest which started with the 3-day rail roko with farmers in Punjab on September 24, 2020.
