PM Kisan: List of Documents Needed to Receive Benefits Under the Scheme

The PM Kisan Scheme is implemented using an Aadhaar-linked computerized database that contains information on all members of farmers' families whose names appear in land records.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN) scheme was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help small and medium-scale farmers. The government offers financial support of up to Rs 6,000 per year to small and marginalised farmers across the country under this initiative.

Eligible farmers receive a monetary incentive of Rs 6,000 per year in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each per trimester. The Scheme is carried out using an Aadhaar-linked computerised database that has information on all members of the farmers' families whose names appear in the land records.

The government deposits Rs 6,000 into the accounts of small and marginal farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The government provides cash support to farmers in three instalments of Rs 2000 each. The plan would provide a minimum income subsidy of Rs 6,000 per year to all small and marginal farmers.

When the PM-PM-KISAN Scheme was first introduced, it was limited to Small & Marginal Farmers' families with a total landholding of up to 2 hectare. In June 2019, the plan was updated and expanded to all farmer families, regardless of the size of their landholdings.

The first Rs 2,000 instalment is due between April 1 and July 31, the second instalment is due between August 1 and November 30, and the third instalment is due between December 1 and March 31. The government has paid these farmers nine payments since its beginning. The central government's Rs 75,000-crore plan promises to benefit 125 million farmers across the country, regardless of their landholding size.

Important documents for PM Kisan 

Name, Age, Gender, and (SC/ST) Category

Aadhaar Number (Except for farmers in the states of Assam, Meghalaya, and J&K (now UTs of J&K and Ladakh), where Aadhaar numbers have not been provided to the majority of residents, these states have been exempted from the need until March 31, 2020.

In these States / UTs, Aadhaar numbers will be collected for those beneficiaries who have one, and for those who do not, alternate prescribed documents such as a driving license, voters' ID card, NREGA Job Card, or an identity card will be collected for identity verification purposes by the States/UT Governments, such as Aadhaar Enrollment Number and/or any other prescribed documents for purposes of identification such as a Driving Licence, Voters' ID Card, NREGA Job Card, or any other identification documents issued by Central/State/UT Governments or their authorities, etc.

IFSC Code and Bank Account Number

Mobile Number; although providing the same is not mandatory, it is recommended that if one is available, it be supplied so that information on the transfer of benefit may be sent.

Who is not eligible for the PM-KISAN Scheme?

Institutional landowners, farmer families holding constitutional positions, serving or former officers and employees of the State and Central governments, as well as Public Sector Undertakings and Government Autonomous Bodies, are all exempt from the PM-KISAN. Professionals such as doctors, engineers, and attorneys, as well as retired pensioners with a monthly pension of more than Rs 10,000 and those who paid income tax in the previous assessment year, are not eligible.
