The Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, took a significant leap in advancing the welfare of farmers by launching an AI Chatbot for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme. The virtual launch event, held in New Delhi, underscored the government's commitment to leveraging technology to improve the lives of farmers across the country.

The AI Chatbot's introduction aims to streamline and enhance the efficiency of the PM-KISAN scheme while providing farmers with prompt, clear, and accurate responses to their queries. Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Kailash Choudhary, who inaugurated the AI Chatbot, highlighted its alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to transform the agricultural landscape through technology-driven governance.

Choudhary emphasized that the AI Chatbot would serve as a valuable tool for accessing scheme information and resolving grievances. He also stressed the need to expand its services to encompass related issues such as weather information, soil conditions, and bank payments. The minister commended the Ministry officials for swiftly integrating this technology, which is expected to alleviate the workload for agriculture officials at both the central and state levels.

The virtual event witnessed the participation of dignitaries from the Government of India and state governments, signifying the importance of this milestone in the agricultural sector. The successful launch of the AI Chatbot for the PM-KISAN scheme reaffirms the government's commitment to utilizing technological advancements for the betterment of farmers.

Manoj Ahuja, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture & Family Welfare, announced plans to implement the AI chatbot in other major schemes of the Ministry in the coming months. Pramod Mehreda, Additional Secretary of the Department of Agriculture & Family Welfare, provided a detailed presentation on the Chatbot's features and its potential benefits for farmers.

The AI Chatbot serves as a comprehensive guide for beneficiaries, offering timely and accurate responses to their inquiries related to the PM-KISAN scheme. Notably, this is the first AI Chatbot integrated with a major flagship scheme of the Union government. Its development and enhancements have been made possible with the support of EKstep foundation and Bhashini.

Accessible through the PM KISAN mobile app, the AI Chatbot is integrated with Bhashini, providing multilingual support to cater to the linguistic and regional diversity of PM KISAN beneficiaries. This integration of advanced technology is expected to enhance transparency and empower farmers to make informed decisions.

Currently available in English, Hindi, Bengali, Odia, and Tamil, the Chatbot will soon be accessible in all 22 languages of the country, making it even more inclusive and accessible to farmers nationwide.
