PM Launches Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: 508 Stations In 27 States

PM Narendra Modi launched the redevelopment project for 508 railway stations throughout the country through video conferencing.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the commencement of the redevelopment project for 508 railway stations throughout the nation through video conferencing. These stations are distributed across 27 states and union territories, with significant numbers in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan (55 each), Bihar (49), Maharashtra (44), West Bengal (37), Madhya Pradesh (34), Assam (32), Odisha (25), Punjab (22), and Gujarat and Telangana (21 each).

There are 20 stations in Jharkhand, and 18 each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, the states of Haryana and Karnataka will have 15 and 13 stations redeveloped, respectively, as per the information provided by the Prime Minister's Office.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India is now entering the promising phase of Amrit Kaal while advancing towards development. This period is characterized by a surge of new energy, inspiration, and determination, signifying the beginning of a significant new chapter in the history of Indian Railways.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced a redevelopment project worth Rs 24,470 crore aimed at improving passenger facilities and facilitating smooth traffic flow, inter-modal integration, and clear passenger guidance through signage. The station buildings' design will be influenced by local culture, heritage, and architecture. Prime Minister Modi has consistently emphasized the importance of modern public transport, with railways being the preferred mode. As a part of the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,' 1,309 stations are targeted for redevelopment, with the prime minister laying the foundation stone for 508 stations.
