Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Shimla today for a roadshow and to address a rally to commemorate his government's eighth anniversary. The visit, which comes after 4.5 years, also serves as a poll bugle for the BJP in the state, where it is expected to win a second term.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Shimla today for a roadshow and to address a rally to commemorate his government's eighth anniversary. The visit, which comes after 4.5 years, also serves as a poll bugle for the BJP in the state, where it is expected to win a second term.
According to Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, PM Modi would virtually connect with every state's chief ministers from the historic Ridge. Later, he will address a public assembly, which is expected to draw over 5,000 party workers from the area. According to state BJP general secretary Trilok Jamwal, the prime minister's tour will travel a half-kilometer from CTO to Rani Jhansi Park.

Update at 12:16 PM: at Arvind Kumar from Gujarat says he benefited immensely from the PM Mudra Loan and Sama Devi from Shimla stated she benefitted from several schemes introduced under the 8 years of Modi rule including PM Kisan Yojana and PM Awas Yojana.
Update at 12:09 PM: PM Modi has started interacting with the beneficiaries of several schemes launched during his ruling. He interacted with the beneficiary of PM Awas Yojana, Lalita Devi from Bihar who stated that she now has a house thanks to the PM Awas Yojana. Previously, she had been living in a mud house with her two kids. Pankaj Sahai from Tripura said he has benefitted from the One Nation One Ration Card Scheme and Garib Kalyan Yojana. Santoshi from Karnataka said she has benefitted from the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Addressing the gathering, the Modi expressed his happiness to be present in Himachal on this momentous occasion. He congratulated and wished the farmers as more than 10 crore farmers have received the money in their bank accounts through the PM Kisan scheme. He expressed satisfaction that he released benefits under the PM CARES for Children Scheme on the occasion of the completion of 8 years of the Government. He expressed happiness for releasing the financial benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme nationwide from Shimla. He thanked the people for giving him the opportunity to serve 130 crore citizens.
PM Modi also conveyed his satisfaction on marking 8 years by taking up the responsibility of the children who lost both their parents to the pandemic through PM CARES for Children on 30 May 2022. He said that the suggestion to be in Himachal for this occasion was accepted by him with promptness as the State has been his Karmbhoomi. PM said that he always sees himself as a member of the family of 130 crore citizens and not as a Prime Minister.
