PM Modi Inaugurates Bharat Tex 2024, Emphasizes on Textile Sector's Vital Role

Today at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurated Bharat Tex 2024, a landmark global textile event. This event touted as one of the largest-ever textile exhibitions in the country, drew attention from various corners as the PM graced the occasion and took a walkthrough of the showcased exhibits.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi extended a warm welcome to all attendees, highlighting the significance of Bharat Tex 2024 being hosted at two of India's premier exhibition centers, Bharat Mandapam and Yasho Bhoomi. He commended the participation of over 3000 exhibitors and traders from nearly 100 countries, along with an anticipated 40,000 visitors, underscoring the event's role as a platform for global textile stakeholders.

In his address, he emphasized the versatile nature of Bharat Tex 2024, symbolizing the integration of India's rich textile heritage with contemporary innovation. He lauded the event as a testament to 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,' showcasing diverse textile traditions from across the nation. Recognizing the crucial role of stakeholders across the textile value chain, including weavers, PM Modi underscored the government's commitment to Viksit Bharat, focusing on the welfare of marginalized sections such as farmers, youth, and women.

Government's Textile Sector Initiatives

PM Modi outlined the government's strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the textile sector's contribution to Viksit Bharat. He emphasized the importance of leveraging tradition, technology, talent, and training to modernize traditional designs and streamline the textile value chain. Measures such as redefining MSME definitions, facilitating direct sales, and promoting online platforms aim to empower artisans and reduce market barriers.

Highlighting the government's actions to foster innovation and sustainability, he spoke about plans to establish PM MITRA Parks across states, fostering a conducive ecosystem for textile enterprises. He stressed the need for comprehensive skill development initiatives, exemplified by programs like the Samarth Scheme, empowering women and rural artisans with industry-relevant training.

Vision for Global Excellence

Under the banner of 'Vocal for Local' and 'Local to Global,' PM Modi urged the textile industry to embrace global markets while preserving India's unique craftsmanship. He cited the exponential growth of India's textiles market, buoyed by government policies fostering quality control, innovation, and foreign investment. Expressing confidence in India's potential as a global textile hub, he pledged government support to facilitate industry growth and international collaboration.

In conclusion, he reiterated the government's commitment to catalyzing industry growth and urged stakeholders to align their vision with global demands. With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity, Bharat Tex 2024 stands as a testament to India's textile prowess and its journey towards self-reliance.

Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, and Union Minister of State for Textiles, Darshana Jardosh, graced the occasion, reaffirming the government's unwavering support for the textile sector's growth trajectory.

Bharat Tex 2024

Bharat Tex 2024, scheduled from February 26 to 29, 2024, represents PM Modi's 5F Vision (Farm to Fiber, Fiber to Factory, Factory to Fashion, Fashion to Foreign), emphasizing the textile value chain from farm to foreign markets. Organized by 11 Textile Export Promotion Councils and supported by the government, the event aims to bolster trade, investment, and sustainability in the textile sector. With over 3500 exhibitors, 3000 buyers from 100 countries, and numerous knowledge sessions and pavilions, Bharat Tex 2024 heralds a new chapter in India's textile journey, aligning with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
