On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, to discuss the expanding innovation and technological sectors in India.

The Indian-American business executive shared a pic of PM Modi and himself sharing a light moment together.

"Thank you for a great meeting today PM @narendramodi. Inspiring to see the rapid pace of technological change under your leadership. Look forward to continuing our strong partnership and supporting India's G20 presidency to advance an open, connected internet that works for all", Pichai tweeted after his meeting with the Prime Minister.

In response to Pichai's tweet, PM Modi took to the microblogging site and wrote, "Was a delight to meet you @sundarpichai and discuss innovation, technology and more. It is important the world continues to work together to leverage tech for human prosperity and sustainable development."

Pichai, who is in India on a visit, previously spoke about artificial intelligence and Google's future plans during the 'Google for India 2022' event alongside Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

At the event, Pichai discussed how India is quickly becoming a significant technology hub. He further complimented the Central government's ambition for a 'Digital India' and claimed that it had greatly aided Google in bringing a number of projects that have aided the company's success across the nation.

He also said during the eighth edition of the Google for India event that the search engine is currently working on AI-based solutions, initiatives, and new partnerships with Indian firms that will further scale up Google's link with India and support the country's economy.

We are expanding the number of languages by employing AI more and more. Nine more Indian languages including Assamese, Bhojpuri, Konkani, etc. have recently been added. We are developing a robust AI model that will enable us to obtain information from countless languages, he added.

Pichai, who was born in Madurai, was awarded the third-highest civilian honor in India earlier this year. He received the Padma Bhushan in the trade and industry category for 2022 in San Francisco.
