PMFAI-ICSCE 2022: Pesticides Manufacturers & Formulators Association of India (PMFAI) is organizing “International Crop Science Conference & Exhibition” - An exclusive Agri Inputs Trade Summit (which includes, Fungicides, Herbicides, Insecticides, pesticide and intermediate (solvents, Surfactants, intermediates, etc.), fertilizer, agrochemical packaging, seeds) on 14 & 15 February 2022 in Le Meridien Hotels & Conference Centre, Airport Road, Dubai-UAE.
Today, i.e. 14th Feb was the first day of this prolific event and it started with great enthusiasm. Industrialists from the major Indian Agro chemical companies were also present at the occasion. Among them was Abhishek Agarwal, President (Sales & Strategic Alliance) & Chief Operating Officer (COO), Bharat Rasayan Pvt Ltd.
He used the platform to discuss the current status of Indian Agrochemical Industry and the Opportunities that lie in the future. He started his speech by highlighting few facts:
-
India is the Number 1 producer of Pulses, Jute, Mango & Dairy products and ranks Number 2 for production of Rice, Wheat, Sugarcane, Cotton, Groundnut Vegetables & fruits.
-
At the same time, India is the 4th largest producer of crop protection products after USA, Japan & China
-
We stand 5th in export of Crop Protection Products.
-
Indian Agro chemical market is close to $6 billion. Yet, per capita consumption of agrochemicals is very low in India”, Agarwal said.
Agarwal further stated, “There’s no denying that China is dominating the manufacturing sector in all fields and it is difficult to surpass it in the given scenario. We need some path breaking strategy to reduce this gap and China + 1 Strategy is what will help lessen it.”
“The regular supply chain disruptions due to environmental measures has led to adoption of this strategy. According to a BCG CFO’s surveys, 45% of US CFOs and 25% of the North Asian CFOs are already moving or are in the process of moving their production out of China."
This is a huge opportunity for India as it is the Best Alternative in the Global Agro-Chem Industry”, he added.
He also said that what make India- the Best Alternative is the Better Protection of IP Rights, Availability of Technically Skilled Labour and Favourable Cost Dynamics.
