The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, embraced the festive spirit of Pongal at the residence of Union Minister, L Murugan in New Delhi today. The occasion was marked by the Prime Minister extending his warm wishes to the nation and emphasizing the significance of unity and tradition during this joyous period. In his address, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his heartfelt wishes for Pongal, noting the festive atmosphere resonating from every household in Tamil Nadu.
He expressed hopes for an ongoing flow of happiness, prosperity, and contentment in the lives of all citizens. Acknowledging the recent celebrations of Lohri and the upcoming festivities of Makar Sankranti and Magh Bihu, he extended his best wishes to the citizens for the festive season.
A Familiar Celebration with Friends
Expressing his delight in recognizing familiar faces, Prime Minister Modi recalled meeting some of them during Tamil Puthandu celebrations the previous year. He thanked Union Minister L Murugan for the invitation, likening the celebration to being with family and friends.

Quoting the revered saint Thiruvalluvar, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of educated citizens, honest businessmen, and thriving crops in nation-building. Millet Promotion and Rural Prosperity
Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction in the growing awareness of the superfood, millets, or ' Anna.' He mentioned the significant impact of millet promotion on over 3 crore farmers engaged in millet farming, directly benefiting from the surge in startup ventures related to millets.
Unity in Diversity: Kolam and National Strength
Drawing parallels between the traditional art form of Kolam and India's diversity, the Prime Minister highlighted how the intricate designs reflect the unity when all elements come together. He pointed out the emotional connection across the nation during festivals, stating that Pongal truly embodies the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.'
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi stated that the unity displayed during Pongal and similar traditions across the country is a powerful force in realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047. He urged citizens to rededicate themselves to strengthening the unity of the nation.
