Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launches 5G Services in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today formally launched the '5G' services in India at the India Mobile Congress (the largest digital technology forum in Asia) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

"It is a historic day for 21st-century India! 5G technology will revolutionize the telecom sector," PM Modi tweeted. After inaugurating the exhibition at Pragati Maidan Prime Minister went around the pavilions set up by different telecom operators and technology providers to get a first-hand experience of what '5G' is all about. Modi first went to Reliance Jio's stall, where he saw the 'True 5G' devices displayed on the counter and also experienced the use case via Jio Glass.

Talking about the benefits of 5G technology, telecom experts said that it will provide continuous coverage, high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications. Besides, it will also increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency, and network efficiency.

Bharti Airtel's Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal who was also present on the occasion said that initially, the company will provide 5G service in eight cities. 

IMC, one of the largest telecom, media, and technology forum in Asia, is organized jointly by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) & Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).
