Promises Made by Congress Before Elections 2022:

Sidhu's promise of women's allowances goes beyond Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's pre-poll promise of Rs 1,000 to all Punjab women.

Sidhu made these remarks while speaking at the gathering in Barnala, Punjab and emphasized the importance of strengthening women in the state.

The Punjab government will provide Rs 2,000 per month to women homemakers as well as eight (LPG) cylinders for free, he said.

He also stated that a women's commando brigade would be formed in Punjab. Women are the country's backbone and future. They are warriors in their own right. According to him, the Punjab model envisions forming a women's commando unit to empower them while also protecting other women.

He stated in the statement that a selected group of women from each district will be taught and provisioned in the Punjab Police and will be empowered to take care of their lives and represent other women.
