Republic Day Violence: Deep Sindhu arrested by Special Cell of Delhi Police
Deep Sindhu has been arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on February 9, 2021.
Delhi Police Special Cell arrested Punjabi actor-turned-activist Deep Sindhu on February 9, 2021 from Zirakpur area of Punjab. He is accused of inciting violence on Republic Day Farmers’ Tractor Rally. Since then, he has been absconding.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the arrest has been made by Delhi Police Special Cell team.
The actor is accused of instigating violence and storming the Red Fort on Republic Day. The FIR lodged in connection with the violence at Red Fort includes the names of gangster Lakka Sadana and actor Deep Sindhu. According to Special Commissioner of Police (CP), Crime, Praveer Ranjan, out of the people who hoisted the flat at the Red Fort, a few have been identified and Deep Sindhu is one of them and is the prime accused.
On Republic Day, Farmers’ Tractor Rally turned violent. They deviated from the fixed routes. Many vandalized properties at different areas of the National Capital. Many others stormed the Red Fort, removed the National Flag of India and unfurled their own flags.
Delhi Police had declared an award of Rs. 1 lakh to anyone who could provide information on his whereabouts to help in his arrest.
