Sanjay Nath Singh, President of All India Farmers' Association (AIFA) and the eldest grandson of the nation’s esteemed Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, recently made an inspiring visit to Krishi Jagran.

His journey in agriculture, while working at Tata Steel as Resident Executive, has culminated in the establishment of the All India Farmers’ Association (AIFA), dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of India’s agricultural community.

Sanjay Nath Singh sheds light on India’s food security challenge amidst a 257% population surge and an alarming 27% dip in arable land from 1961 to 2023.

He further talks about the introduction of a new revolution in agriculture after the success of the Green Revolution in 1964 – 1966. He believes that the new agricultural revolution could have fundamentally transformed the economic landscape of Indian farmers, making them rich and envisioning “Samridhh Kisan, Samridhh Bharat”.

One of the pressing issues that Sanjay Nath Singh has addressed includes more than 2000 farmers quitting farming every day, due to the challenges and limitations they face in traditional agricultural practices. The younger generation is increasingly getting away from agriculture because of the hindrances caused by ‘mandis’ in the progress of the agriculture sector.

“Either the Government should cover all the crops under MSP or give Free Markets,” emphasized Sanjay Nath Singh for benefitting farmers and making youngsters contribute their efforts in agriculture.

Towards the end of his intriguing session, Shri Sanjay Nath Singh assured his presence as a board member for Krishi Jagran’s historic initiative, the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards 2023.
