SBI Customers Alert! Beware of Rising KYC Fraud, Here’s How You Can Keep Your Account Safe

Country’s biggest lender, State Bank of India (SBI) has warned its customers against fraud messages. It said that the fraudster sends a text message pretending to be a representative of the bank or company to steal customer's personal credentials or KYC details.

Country’s biggest lender, State Bank of India (SBI) has warned its customers against growing online fraud in the country. It said that the fraudster sends a text message pretending to be a representative of the bank or company to steal customer's personal credentials or KYC details.

State Bank of India on Monday cautioned its customers against a sudden rise in online fraud as several cases of Know Your Customer (KYC) deceit have been reported across the country. The bank confirms that the fraud is real and it has expanded across the country.

Considering this situation, SBI recently alerted its customers via its Twitter handle, saying "KYC fraud is real, and it has proliferated across the country. The fraudster sends a text message pretending to be a bank/company representative to get your personal details."

3 Easy Steps to keep your account safe:

State Bank of India has also issued 3 safety tips for avoiding such fraudulent KYC update links, which are as follows:

  • Think twice before you click any link 

  • The bank never sends links to update the details of KYC 

  • Do not share your mobile and confidential data with anyone 

During COVID-19 lockdown, SBI has cautioned its customers where they can benefit doorstep banking services just with a phone call. Regarding this, SBI has clearly announced via its official Twitter handle saying that "Your bank is now at your doorstep. Register for doorstep banking today! To know more: https://bank.sbi/dsb. Toll-Free no. 1800 1037 188 or 1800 1213 721."
