Schools and Colleges to Remain Closed Amid Cyclone 'Michaung' Threat

The Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Puducherry, has officially announced a holiday for all colleges in the Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam regions on December 4, 2023, due to the impending cyclone 'Michaung.' The Director of School Education P Priytarshny, in an official statement, has declared a holiday on December 4, 2023, in all schools situated in Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam regions, due to the possible occurrence of cyclone, 'Michaung' making landfall in coastal regions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert, signaling a cautionary advisory for residents of North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. According to the forecast, these regions are anticipated to witness exceptionally heavy rainfall, exceeding 204.4 mm, on December 3, 2023. Furthermore, on December 4, 2023, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected.

Residents in the specified areas are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions in light of the anticipated weather conditions.
