Schools and Colleges to Remain Closed Amid Cyclone 'Michaung' Threat

The Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Puducherry, has officially announced a holiday for all colleges in the Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam regions on December 4, 2023, due to the impending cyclone 'Michaung.' This decision has been made to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff in light of the potential impact of the cyclone.

Schools to Remain Closed

The Director of School Education P Priytarshny, in an official statement, has declared a holiday on December 4, 2023, in all schools situated in Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam regions, due to the possible occurrence of cyclone, 'Michaung' making landfall in coastal regions.

According to the forecast, these regions are anticipated to witness exceptionally heavy rainfall, exceeding 204.4 mm, on December 3, 2023. Furthermore, on December 4, 2023, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected.

Residents in the specified areas are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions in light of the anticipated weather conditions. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and individuals are advised to stay informed about updates from the meteorological department to ensure their safety and well-being.
