Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Demands Rs 50,000 per Acre Compensation for Crop Damage

Unpredictable rainfall, hailstorms, and high-velocity winds have harmed wheat and other crops across Punjab. According to Badal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration promised to pay compensation quickly following crop loss on the 'Delhi Model,' and it should keep that commitment rather than "delaying" the assessment procedure to deny help to farmers, as it did last year.

"Farmers have not received compensation for damage done to wheat and cotton harvests last year," he continued.

Sukhbir Singh Badal stated that if farmers are treated unfairly, the Shiromani Akali Dal will begin an agitation. He also urged that compensation for farm labourers be increased to Rs 10,000 per acre and that leaseholder losses be considered.

He asked that the AAP administration immediately raise with the central government the problem of value cuts that farmers thought would be imposed on their wheat production.

"The central government should be asked not to apply any value reduction on excess moisture and grain discolouration due to the exceptional conditions," Badal stated.
